Remember this? Haha man, it has been such a long time since I've listened to it, but it's still damn good. Well, well, it's one day before New Year's Eve. I hope you're prepping yourselves to stay up late. I am...kind of. I have some applications to finish and a personal statement to get over with (which is taking longer than it should) and then relaxation. :)

I'm nowhere near marriage (thank god) even though I've been asked apparently...
So my brother is home for the holidays this year and he's obsessed with this song:
I'm liking it too, hence the reason I decided to post it. I hope you like it. Kpop at its best. :)

because that would be SCANDALOUS! Haha, so I'm posting, yes, again! The day after, which is good because I haven't really been updating as much as I initially hoped. So it's about 20 some minutes before midnight and what am I doing? Writing my freakin' rough draft of my ~10 page research paper. It has gotten somewhere, but I've had so much trouble with this. It's ridiculous! Anyways, taking a brain breather, here's some new music! My friend Ahmed mentioned them in his FB status and I was so curious that I Youtubed them and here's what I found:
Loooooove! If you like it, check out their album because it's damn good.
P.S. I signed up for Daily Booth! I really can't believe I did. Hahaha. Check it out if you want and follow me!

Doing just that is what I need to work on. I never pick up my cell...it's a bad habit, but then again, I've never gotten used to having one. It's not really a necessity in my life except to tell my parents I'm safe and sound. Maybe the future will change that. The independent life, that is.
Today, as I'm trying to motivate myself to get some work done considering the fact that I have a mountain of work to do, I found this:
With one listen, I've found another favorite band.
Enjoy!

One of the rising music videos on Youtube contained something very special; a video of this special dude:
Japanese and probably around the age of 4, this kid has talent. Sweetness and innocence and hilarious facial expressions keep me watching. Not to mention his attempts to speak in English which usually results in blah blah blahs. Check him out. He'll be famous for sure! Japan better brace itself for a superstar!

Who isn't a fan of Queen? Or at least their "Bohemian Rhapsody"? Everyone knows it and loves it (for the most part). So here's the original:
And for you viewing pleasure, here's the one I found yesterday.
I was so overjoyed when I watched it. I mean, it's the muppets!!! Incredible.

Kate Earl, a new artist. I have yet to go through her entire album, but this song really sticks. It's called "Melody" and it's so sweet. I don't really care for the video, but I hope you enjoy the song and check her out!

If live in the US, then you're celebrating Thanksgiving unless you're one of those people who doesn't believe in celebrating holidays...Who wouldn't want to celebrate Thanksgiving though? Great food, family reunions, gatherings with friends, and then a day followed by great bargains at department stores and stores et cetera. I love Thanksgiving! So Happy Thanksgiving!
I was thinking of what songs I could post today. Of course, the first song that comes to mind is this one:
But then you need something different too, right? Here's Sigur Ros' "Gobbledigook":

Thanks to my friend, Kate, I've become a fan of none other than GERMAN MUSIC! Aren't you excited? International music kills, people. If you haven't given it a listen, you definitely should. You won't be disappointed even if you can't understand it.
This is Xavier Naidoo. He's an amazing mix of awesome. His voice is soulful and wise. He has a very classy appearance to him that makes the audience feel like he has lived through the downs in life. It's perfection what he does. He also sings in English. Check him out, folks!

If you ever get to know me, you'll find that I'm very fond of French music and culture. Despite the fact that my French teacher turned me off to it for a couple of years because she was a [bleeping] racist, I've come out of that phase happier than ever. High school is overrated anyways. Nothing good comes out of it.
Today I'm introducing Fight Aids. It's not really a band, but a gathering of famous singers who all work to bring awareness to the ongoing AIDS problem. I think the accumulation of artists sharing the same goals in bring up a topic that is of great concern is admirable.

I didn't really like Shakira's first single, "She Wolf", but I can't say the same about her second single "Did It Again".
And plus, her video is HOT! The guy who dances with her is incredible. If you're curious, his name is Daniel 'Cloud' Campos. Believe me, he's steamy. I did some Googling on him and it turns out that he was one of the dancers on Madonna's Confessions Tour. The same dancer that I couldn't get my eyes off of. He really has a way of standing out.
Here's the video, and thanks to Phil who shared it:

Flyleaf's Memento Mori is out. If you liked their first album, I can easily say that this one is just as good. Lacey's vocals have only gotten better. Maybe the married life has done her good? Who knows? She's as cute as ever and equally as talented.

The song that started it all for Radiohead. Thom Yorke refuses to sing it ever again at concerts or when requested, which is kind of sad since I'll never ever get to see it actually performed, but I guess I've somewhat come to terms with it. I just really want to see "Nude" performed live now. *sighs* I've seen the video recording on youtube and was so moved that well...I so badly want to see it for myself.
Right, on to the video posting for today. I'm really feeling "Creep" today. I'm not depressed or anything, but having to write a stupid book review while suffering from back pains is kind of a downer. And today is so nice. It's sunny and partially warm.
I loved this video. I think it pretty much explains everything in the song.
P.S. Still working on the appearance of the blog. I need to make a cool header and stuff, so just wait for it, I guess.

"You just can't do anything about it." It's so true, sometimes you really can't do anything when it comes to things in the world or with ourselves for that matter.

I just deleted a heck of a lot of people off my friends list on Facebook and I've never felt better! It's not that I don't like the people, but it's like there's really no personal connection there that gives me an obligation to keep them as a friend, you know? Sure, I could network and all, but seeing all those updates that I don't care about and having to "hide" everything, it gets way too tedious. So, with that done for the day (though I'll probably delete more), I'm turning a new leaf this autumn with a list of friends who've meant something to me at some point and still actually care to keep in touch.
Here's a fitting song:

Thom Yorke, folks! I can just say his name and you'll know that there's brilliance there. This is one of the singles off the New Moon soundtrack.
I can't help but think that the only good thing about the film adaptions of Stephenie Meyer's booksellers are the soundtracks. The acting sucks, the lead male isn't what I'd consider "Edward" and well, it could have been done so much better all-around. But the music, the music for a good 87% of the time couldn't be better.

I'll actually go to sleep on time and not past midnight. *Sighs* Since I'm up right now, it can't be helped, so I'll post something nice. I've been listening to this song all day. It's that good to me right now. It could get old if I continue to repeat it nonstop within a week, but cross your fingers that it doesn't. Right, without further adieu:
They're from South Africa, and according to some, the lead looks like Twilight's Edward. You be the judge. I think the singer is a lot hotter...you can actually understand what he's saying when he sings...oh, but what's kind of ironic, is the name of the band...Civil Twilight.
Uh huh. Well, that's it from me!
No wait, there's more. I'm going to start working on this site to make it more "original". I'm using one of those free templates that isn't really working to my best interest in terms of how I want everything set up, so look out for it (for whoever actually reads this).

It's off her earlier album, but still, very good.
"Girl Laying Down"
I love the clothes in this video. I really wish I had a white dress like that. One day...I'll have one. If I don't buy it, I'm sure I'll desperately try to make it. As for Ternheim, I would totally wear that as a Halloween costume!

Alright, I'm not really a religious person (don't judge), but I am fascinated by different religions, especially the art that develops because of it. Anyways, that has nothing to do with the song that I'm talking about today. I was listening to "Losing my Religion" on the radio last night with a friend and we couldn't come up with the band. When I procrastinate is when I find the nicest music, I think. Like Florence and the Machine and their single "Dog Days are Over" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0ZPTFfpO40). Happy songs mean happier days. Who isn't bummed out about the economy? Who isn't tired to endless talk of Letterman and of Jon and Kate, healthcare reform, or the recent storms plaguing Asia? We've undergone so much this year that I think we should just sit down and relax. Grab a glass of lemonade (despite the fact that it's now autumn), sit outside on a bench, and chill to some music. Everything's going to be alright. If you look at your future in an optimistic manner, everything will fall in place. Negativity only makes things worse, so...

They're a rock band called the State of Man, and lucky for you (and me), they've released a new album. I've just listened to what they have on their myspace page (http://www.myspace.com/stateofman) and at times, I think "Hm...sounds Incubus-ish and somewhat OneRepublic" but that's just my opinion. The band with no name performed last night and...I am so jealous of those who got to see it! Thom Yorke, Flea, Nigel Godrich, Joey Waronker, and Mauro Refosco. Come on! Who wouldn't want to see them all in action? TOGETHER?! So very jealous, but thanks to a very generous person who got video and pretty decent audio, I got to experience just a bit of it, and now so can you!

Oh gosh no, not Taylor Swift. I think I've gotten enough of her and that Kanye drama a few weeks(?) back. Now it's constant airplay of all her songs and let me tell you...you can only get so much of her before it gets really old for a really long time. And I like her music! Gotta blame the radio stations for turning me completely off to her. It'll probably take a year for me to get back or maybe another album before I can stand to listen to her music again.
Now that you know my current situation with that, here's something I have yet to tire of:
This was an amazing cover of Massive Attack. I never heard of Newton Faulkner until I saw this video. Made me sit with awe when he started tapping his guitar and playing with his left hand. Talent, I'd say. Great vocals too.

Powerful, neh? So, there's been recent controversy over Kelly Clarkson's single "Already Gone" because the music seems too similar to that of Beyonce's "Halo", but the lyrics are completely different. To be frank, I don't think it really matters because both songs are truly wonderful. I mean, there are so many musicians and music producers out there and thus, there's bound to be coincidences somewhere. I'm just saying...it happens and people shouldn't be blamed for feeling the same beat every once in a while. Maybe it's just a case that great minds think alike.
Anyways, I was listening to "Already Gone" for quite some time since it was aired as the goodbye song for female finalists on So You Think You Can Dance. I thought it was beautiful and it stuck.
Having listened to it continuously for the past few days, I've been imagining scenarios that could fit the lyrics so well. I do this often with music which keeps them fresh on my playlist while maintaining some healthy exercise for my imagination.
So here is what I picture in my head as a music video:
This isn't really a perfect summary of what I'm imagining but it's close enough.
Forbidden love: Woman is poor, man is rich. The man's family has high expectations but because he loves the woman, they believe it will hinder his future. Despite their deep connection, the pressure from the man's family and the constant abuse they've placed on her (without the man knowing)become too much. She loves him, no doubt, but because she doesn't want him to lose his family for she has no one herself, she succumbs to pushing him away. He understands their inability to be together, but he still has hopes that they can last longer. He's heartbroken, but he doesn't give up. The woman remembers all the great times they've had together. She knows that they can't be together. It's her or his family. She knows the importance of family. She meets him. They embrace. The next morning, the man wakes up alone with a letter beside his bed. It's a farewell letter addressing her reasons for her departure. Emotion builds in the man. He dresses and runs out the door, heading to her apartment. There, he knocks continuously shouting her name. The manager hears the desperation and opens the girl's room, telling him that all her things had been moved out the day before. The man asks the manager where she went. He doesn't know. All that is left is another letter addressed to the man. She wants him to move on. Their love was unforgettable, but it could never be. Someone had to go.
Ah...I sooo could have summarized that better with greater detail, but I feel like I'd be writing too much and boring you, so...maybe sometime later. I'll even think of names.
Here are the lyrics: "Already Gone"
Actual music video: "Already Gone" * I really felt like the music video was severely lacking, but heh, it's not my job to make them, so I can't have my way. *sighs*

But not literally. Ok, I'm kind of embarrassed to say that I was really drawn into the Twilight madness that occurred this year. Now, don't get me wrong, I simply liked the books because it was a pretty fresh romance (but a possessive one at that). I hated how it characterized vampires in such an untraditional way, but oh well. I saw the movie and was so utterly disappointed. The only good thing that came out of the film was the soundtrack. BRILLIANTLY crafted.
Blue Foundation is a Danish electronic group. Relatively unknown in the U.S., but with the success of their debut through "Eyes On Fire", their popularity is going to increase at perhaps a global level. :)
So, here's my current fave off the Twilight soundtrack.
Of course, I adore Radiohead, but "15 Step" is on their In Rainbows album, so it's a given I'll love it. Great choice of song. Paramore's "Decode" and "I Caught Myself" are also very good songs. Check it all out, peeps!

Back in high school, I would have told you that I didn't like the music of Bjork. The truth is that I never got around to listening to her. There was this craze for Coldplay, so any attempt to find something new was shun away like it didn't exist. I hated high school and I hate it now even as I look back on it. Sure, there were some pleasant moments, but I think I'm willing to forget it all.
Bjork is so inspiring. She takes you somewhere else. The mind goes through several images and it's magical. I recently got her Greatest Hits album and I'm in love. The whole album is just full of love. Bjork is a master at what she does. No wonder Thom Yorke is a fan of her. She's brilliant!

Chilling in the library, I was listening to whatever was in my iPod. Believe me when I say that I hardly pay attention to what's playing. I just put albums on there and see where it takes me during the day. So it was raining outside. No, wait, it was pouring. Sitting in one of the small couch benches, listening to the big drops of water hit the bottom of the window seal, while preparing to read New Moon, I heard it. I've loved Kings of Leon ever since last year and gosh, I feel like every year I find a band that just sticks for good, while others fade either because they can't keep me entertained or I realize their lack of amazingness. Anyways, I've had their album ever since it came out and truth be told, I've only listened to "Use Somebody" and "Sex on Fire". Today, I found my third fave: "Closer". Mm. It's good.

I'm starting to really believe that there's a lot of talent in Norway. I don't know, but I can't help but get that feeling, you know? I heard of Maria Mena a couple years ago and I loved her music. I remember back in middle school singing "Say My Name" with my friends and shaking my booty without a care in the world what the lyrics meant or the story. Well, truth be told, I knew what the song was about as well as the other great hits that came out of Destiny's Child, but yeah, those were some fabulous days of innocence. And thank goodness the music then wasn't half as sex-filled as those of today.
So, I guess I should say that I've been following Beyonce since her Destiny's Child days, to her film debut and her solo works, and I personally think that she's great. Sometimes a stuck-up diva, but a fine singer at that. Ahaha. So her latest album came out last year and I got it. I mean, why not? 'Sasha Fierce' would make anyone curious especially when the 'it' word last year was..."fierce".
To be critical, I didn't really like "Single Ladies". It gets old fast. "If I Were A Boy" was intriguing and beautifully sung too, but that too became old. So here I am thinking "what song do I LOVE on this album" and there it was..."Halo". Maybe it has something to do with the fact that Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic wrote the song or that Leona Lewis was originally going to be the artist to record it, but it has me hooked. I've listened to it nonstop today and it's beautiful. The lyrics, the way Beyonce sings it, and the lightness of the music video that goes along with it make it the perfect song for the album. It's brilliant.

This is long overdue. Missy Higgins was one of the many Myspace sensations in the last year or two. Her songs are meaningful to many. Songs of love, heartbreak, and hope. More and more, it seems I'm getting hooked on Indie music. It's not a bad thing. The music is fun and better than some crap on the radio these days. I remember hearing this song either on an iPod commercial or just cruising YouTube, but it's definitely one of those songs where you can't help but just chill to it. Ah yes, now I remember! I was watching the Brit show, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, and the singer, Mette, was one of the guest players and they showed a clip of the band. She's very cute, by the way. Very adorable and easy-going, I would say. So here they are:

Probably the front runner for the New Moon (Twilight Series) theme song, Hana Pestle is a rising star in the contemporary field. Her voice is beautiful and her lyrics, deep.

Slumdog Millionaire was the movie to see last year. Not only did it sweep the boards on Oscar night, its soundtrack won great praise. Sadly though, it seems the U.S. industry had to get its hand on the profits by making their own version of the award-winning song, "Jai Ho".
I like the Pussycat Dolls, but I think remaking the song was very unnecessary. Even though it features the writer and singer A.R. Rahman, they just shouldn't have. It's not bad, to be honest, but why do you have to make something yours when its perfect the way it is? I just see the remake as something people will be disappointed about. Anyhoo, if you haven't seen it, here it is:

I think I'm really starting to get into electronica/trance/dance a lot more than before. I mean, I liked it, but I never listened to it continuously like I would other genres. This new feeling I have may be due to the fact that a couple of my friends are DJs, but who knows?
So Morgan Page. He's probably not as well known as other trance producers, but this song featuring Tyler James is so addicting. It's so smooth that I feel like I could glide through the air. Tyler James is a singer who was once dubbed Britain's Justin Timberlake, but it just didn't work out for the poor lad which is probably why his debut album was named The Unlikely Lad. Oh well. He does have a nice voice though.

I think she's a great singer to the point where it's hard for me to understand why she must continue to lead the Pussycat Dolls who alone, can't do anything but look slutty. Scherzinger does all the vocals on the album and even when performing live, she is so much better alone than with them. But then again, if you look at them all together, it works out to Scherzinger's advantage because the other girls make her even more beautiful.
This is their latest release and I love it! "I Hate This Part"

...why the heck is it so catchy?! I love it and just had to post a blog for them because since their New Year's performance, I can't get it out of my head! Not to mention James Corden's cover of the song on Big Fat Quiz of the Year 2008. It's brilliant, by the way. Check it out!

I remember when their song "Chasing Cars" first got airplay. I loved it instantly and began looking into this Irish band that I had never heard of before. I had heard of Interpol, but never Snow Patrol. So there I was on Youtube, looking for music videos and stuff and I fell in love.
